CRON jobs – VPS Quick Setup Guide

ServerGrove’s VPS Control Panel makes it easy to add a new cron job, simply follow these steps:

1) log into your VPS

2) Click on the server you need to manage, then click on Applications from the dropdown menu

3) Click on the CRON Manage button

4) If this is your first Cron Job, you can click on the “Create your first job” link at the bottom

5) You will be presented with the following screen, to “Easy Setup” your cron job. Complete all fields and click on Save. IMPORTANT: Ideally and for security measures, you will NOT want to run your cron job as root

Additionally, you can choose the Advanced Setup. Click on New > Job (Advanced Setup). Complete all fields and click on Save:

Variables:

To setup a New variable, click on New > Variable. Complete all fields and Save:

Test Command:

With both the Easy & Advanced setups you can Test your Command before configuring it. This is very important because it allows you to see if it’s being executed correctly or not. Once set, you will be able to see all commands history and if they were executed correctly or not.
